Observance Of Pesach ©

By Dr. Akiva G. Belk

This study of the weekly parsha is dedicated in loving memory to Mrs. Peggy Pearlstone, may she rest in peace.

There are ten specific verses that draw my attention:

“And called Moshe to all the Zeek Nay {Elders} of Yisroel and said to them, ‘Draw out and take for yourselves a lamb for families and slaughter it as a Pesach offering...’” Exodus 12:21

“And when you come to the land that Hashem will give to you like that He said you shall preserve this service.” Exodus 12:25

“And went out B’nei Yisroel and did {everything from Aleph to Sav} like Hashem commanded to Moshe and to Aharon so they did.” Exodus 12:28

“This night is guarded to Hashem for bringing them {B’nei Yisroel} out from the land of Mitzriam. It is the night that remains guarded to Hashem for all B’nei Yisroel for [all] their generations.” Exodus 12:42

“And spoke Hashem to Moshe and Aharon, ‘This statute of the Pesach [Offering], every son of the unrecognized may not eat it. And every [Jewish] man’s slave purchased with silver you shall circumcise him and he shall eat it [the Pesach Offering].’” Exodus 12:43-44

“All witness [community] of Yisroel must make this offering. And when a [Jewish] convert dwells among you and desires to make the Pesach Offering to Hashem every male must be circumcised. Then he may come near to make it and be like the native born in the land. Any male not circumcised shall not eat of it [the Pesach Offering]. There is one law for the native born and [one law] for the Jewish convert dwelling among you. And did all B’nei Yisroel as Hashem commanded Moshe and Aharon {everything from Aleph to Sav} and they [Moshe and Aharon] also did so.” Exodus 12:47-51

Holy reader, these ten verses simply explain that Pesach is a Jewish day of observance. Pesach {Passover} is a Jewish day of observance because Hashem delivered the descendants of Jacob / Yaakov {B’nei Yisroel} from slavery in Mitzriam. Jews are obligated to remember and observe Pesach. However only Jews who are recognized can eat of the Pesach offering. In other words, Jewish apostates and non-Jews are not permitted to eat of the Pesach offering. They are unrecognized. Why are they unrecognized? Their deeds are not recognized. Their actions are not recognized. What deeds and what actions are not recognized? They do not hold Torah values close to their hearts. They do not live by the Torah. In other words, the separated Jew... the righteous Jew... the separated Eh Ved {slave of a righteous Jew} and the separated Jewish convert are the only ones permitted to eat of the Pesach Offering.

Now the Torah makes it extremely clear that separation MUST include circumcision. A male that is uncircumcised cannot eat of the Pesach Offering. Circumcision is a sign of the Covenant between G-d and the descendants of Avraham! This means that the Eh Ved must be circumcised. This means that the Gair {Jewish convert} must be circumcised. Circumcision is not just pricking one’s penis. Circumcision is having the foreskin removed from the penis. This is a serious issue. Less observant conversions do not always require the removal of the foreskin. This is a serious mistake!! It is a Torah violation. Circumcision has always meant removal of the foreskin from the penis. Look up the word circumcision in the dictionary. This serious lack of Torah observance places the less observant convert in a serious and dangerous ground. It also grossly misrepresents Torah Judaism. I challenge anyone to prove that circumcision is less than stated above. IT IS NOT!!

So from our discussion we learned some of the basic qualifications of eating the Pesach Offering. We observed that the Pesach Offering is to be eaten:

... by the righteous Jew
... by the righteous Eh Ved of a righteous Jew
... by the righteous convert

We observed that the Pesach Offering is not to be eaten by the Spiritualist. The Spiritualist is not a descendant of Yaakov. The Spiritualist is not a descendant of B‘nei Yisroel. The only way for a Spiritualist to observe the Pesach Offering is to be an Eh Ved or properly converted to Judaism.

However today we do not observe Pesach as the Torah commands us. The Pesach Seder is only a relic, a remembrance of the actual Pesach observance. Why? Our Bais HaMikdosh must be rebuilt. The Furniture and Utensils of the Bais HaMikdosh must be restored and in some situations created. The positions of Kohen Godal, Kohanim and Levium must be restored and HONORED! All Jewish males, all Jewish male converts and all Jewish male servants must present themselves before Hashem in Jerusalem at the new Bais HaMikdosh. ... and there is more...

Now, dear ones, what this means is that we have this window of opportunity to reach out to the unrecognized. Reach out to the apostate Jew. Reach out to the assimilated Jew. Reach out to the Jew in a mixed marriage. Reach out to the Jewish convert of lesser observance. Reach out to the descendants of the former
Eh Ved. They are in a mixed up, confused state, being former children of an observant Eh Ved. Include the Spiritualist who desires to learn. Today we have this opportunity to touch a life. When the third Bais HaMikdosh is built none of these will be included. This window of opportunity will be closed.

Wishing you the best!
